Team Preparation

"The RAAM Team is in the midst of Winter training in preparation for the June 12th start in Oceanside.As a Team the 4-riders need to cover 3,150 miles which is an awesome physical and mental challenge for the riders and the support crew.The training to date includes:Daily flexibility and stretching routines 4-5X/week easy spinning for 45-60 minutes 4-5X/week cardio-training for 60-90 minutes 3-4X/week weight lifting at 10-20 set stationsdoing 1-3 sets at 15 reps of planned intensityEach rider has been tested by Dr Dan Halvorsen for:VO2maxAnaerobic and Ventilatory ThresholdWingate arm and leg powerBody Composition for %BFat and Muscle MassThey are preparing for Test #2 in the PowerCubed Exercise Medicine Clinic at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota ... to determine their progress by the end of February 2007.Test #3 is also planned for early May so as to help the riders be as ready as possible for the big ride."
